Environmental and traffic safety are important aspects of rural development that are often overlooked,
especially in areas with accident-prone geographical conditions. Ngrimbi Village is one example of a
rural area with a number of road points that are prone to traffic accidents due to sharp turns, steep terrain,
and limited visibility. With this in mind, students from Hasyim Asy'ari X University's Community
Service Programme (KKN) and Ngrimbi Village officials implemented a collaborative strategy to
improve environmental safety through the installation of convex mirrors at accident-prone points. The
purpose of this activity is to improve the quality of human resources in terms of safety awareness and
create simple technology-based preventive solutions.
This research used a qualitative method with a case study approach. Data was collected through field
observations, interviews with residents, and visual documentation of the location and installation
process. The results of the activity show that the convex mirrors have a direct impact on improving
visibility on narrow roads and reducing the potential for accidents. Furthermore, the involvement of
villagers and village officials in the planning and installation helped strengthen collective awareness of
the importance of public safety. The programme also increased the capacity of village human resources
to identify environmental problems and implement simple solutions independently. The synergy formed
between KKN students and the village is a strategic model for sustainable development based on
community participation.
